Description

Walk with us through the archaeological remains that are still preserved in the city of Cusco. You will visit emblematic sites such as the temple of the sun “Coricancha” the fortress of Sacsayhuaman with its enigmatic monoliths of 200 tons, Qenqo a sanctuary dedicated to the deity of the earth Pacha Mama, the red fortress “Puka Pucara” and Tambomachay where its hydraulic system that is finely carved for the perfect flow of water can also be seen majestic mountains.

SEASON: April – December (best season), January – March (with some restrictions due to rain).

REMEMBER: the city tour in Cusco can be done in any of the following two schedules

  • Morning shift: 9:00 A 13:30 PM
  • Afternoon shift: 13:00 A 18:20 PM

ITINERARY

1: QORICANCHA- SACSAYHUAMAN- QENQO- PUCA PUCARA- TAMBOMACHAY

We will pick you up from your hotel (morning shift 8:50 AM), (afternoon shift 12:50 PM) and then we will go to the main square. Here you will visit the famous cathedral, then we go through an ancient street built by the Incas from the main square to the Q’oricancha, a temple where they worshiped and honored their creator of the Andean world the Sun God where they found idols and images of ayllus.

From the Qoricancha, we walk to the avenue of the sun where you will take your bus 15 minutes from the city. You will be taken to the majestic Inca site, Sacsayhuaman has a megalithic architecture, characterized by three strong zigzag walls built with limestone and other stone elements, you can listen to your guide and then explore on your own.

From Sacsayhuaman, you will take a 5-minute bus ride to the Inca site of Q’enqo, this is a main Huaca of the Antisuyu, characterized by being a rocky outcrop. Then, it will take about 8 minutes by bus to the Inca site of Puca Pucara, it is built with finely carved lithic blocks and composed of large walls, terraces and staircases, being part of the defensive complex of Cusco.

The last stop of our tour is Tambomachay, a water temple that is finely carved for the flow of water, it also has four walls or terraces staggered attached to the hill. Then we will return to Cusco, where the tour ends in the main square.
